Another digital painting. I took a old photo, in this case a not very good one I had taken of Tom Thompson Lake at night some years ago, I then add colour and use a "smudge" tool to brush the new and existing colour into shapes and literally "paint" a scene over the photo. I don't try to make the scene look real or replicate my photo, but I try to "paint" something that feels real and replicates the way the scene seemed at the time. Given that this is Tom Thompson Lake, for me, this is the only way it could feel at the time.

mcmaster magic tree

I came out of Kenneth Taylor Hall at McMaster this evening and this tree was sparkling as if covered in a thousand purple jewels. Maybe it was florescent light refracting through the frozen rain on the branches - but this is the arts qaud - so maybe it was magic.

I need your opinion - I am thinking of switching to a blogger style template - can you visit and let me know what you think? The images there are smaller but if you click them they will come up large. The benifits of the new template are a better menu system to see past photos. Also a better spam management system - here I get several hundred spam comments a day and sometimes accidently delete non-spam when moderating the pending comments.
